A Little Mutual Masterbation Anyone?

Colin Powell will have a role as a top presidential adviser in an Obama administration, the Democratic White House hopeful said Monday.

THE MAN WHO STATED THE CASE TO THE ENTIRE WORLD THAT WE SHOULD GO TO WAR WITH IRAQ IS GOING TO BE A TOP ADVISOR IN AN OBAMA ADMINISTRATION.

TAKE THAT ALL YOU ANTI-IRAQ BUSH'S ILLEGAL WAR LIBERALS.

A VOTE FOR OBAMA IS A VOTE FOR BUSH!

Thats just stating half the facts. He was also one of the very few people in the administration to admit he was wrong.

From the article below:
When asked if he (Powell) feels it has tarnished his reputation, he said, "Of course it will. It's a blot. I'm the one who presented it on behalf of the United States to the world, and [it] will always be a part of my record. It was painful. It's painful now."

Chandrakant, it's the FULL FACTS. He had ALL The intelligence and presented the case for war. All you mention is regret for doing so. HE DID IT! He did it with full knowledge.

Next time no go on my site if you add links.

Agreed he presented the case, and he did believe there was sufficient cause at that time. Lots of people believed it at that time. But he was man enough to say it was a mistake, and clarify.

Again, from the article:
"George Tenet did not sit there for five days with me misleading me. He believed what he was giving to me was accurate. … The intelligence system did not work well," he said.

I added the link just because I wanted you to read the article. Apologies.

I would like to ask the commenters here whats funny, or why they are labeling it as hypocrisy?

@ Chandrakant: So, you think we should enter a war, and have no real plan? Or, did Powell feel the plan was to lose? Either way, it is beyond logic to say it was a mistake mid conflict and total pandering on Powell's behalf.

Much of war is psychological. What sort of traitorous act is it when one does as Powell has done?
Once Powell, or anyone, determined we should enter, it should be brought to a conclusion. Walking away and leaving the country in a shambles is not a conclusion, it is a hypocritical act.

Why is it funny? Because funny is all I have left. It's the kind of "shake your head, sad kind of funny". The Obama campaigne is chalked full of rhetoric and lies. What's their true feelings on an issue...well that depends on who they are talking to. It's funny b/c all they can talk about is how much McCain is like Bush and now they are planning on using Powell as a top advisor...hello? Kettle? You're black.

Da old man,
"Conclusion" of the war can never occur when the objectives keep changing from saving us from saddam's weapons of mass destruction, to "liberating" iraqis from Saddam, to bringing democracy etc etc. But argument on the war is old - there will be different views on the how, why, etc. and we will probably never agree on them.

I think if Powell had endorsed McCain, conservatives would be waxing eloquent about what a great person he was. Just because he got disillusioned by McCain, (as many who watch his campaign are) and endorsed Obama, he becomes the bad guy. Why cant the conservatives say that they respectfully disagree? Instead now they tarnish his character and service.
