I took that headline from a comment on another blog. It was brilliant. It was left in the comments on a post about the current healthcare "proposal" that is really a demand of the president of the united states. Yes I didn't capitalize the words for good reason. I don't respect the president or his country at this time. And I won't give honor or credit to a man who I believe is a dictator and who will demand to dismantle the very foundations of our once great nation for his own sick personal agenda and pleasure and in the process sentence my mother to death.
We do need reform but not in THIS format!
Under his plan http://search.twitter.com/search?max_id=2724494150&page=1&q=+pg+from%3Afleckman+since%3A2009-07-14+until%3A2009-07-19&rpp=50 which you can see here from a very detailed Tweeter who has looked at the pages in the proposed bill, liberties are stripped.
So I ask you, those of you I emailed privately, how do you feel about the details in the bill? Are you ok with these things? Is this truly what you believe in? I can't imagine a compassionate Christian believing these things are ok.
I know I am not ok with this.
I am not ok with the rationing of drugs and treatments and the denial of them by any entity. I've never felt the insurance companies were great. I'm sure you agree with me there. So how can you think this is better? This is worse. MUCH WORSE. This is the government making life or death decisions and taking away options and choices. This is NOT giving more or better!
If you refuse to admit this then you are lying to yourself. There is not debate nor will there be with me and don't you even try it. I don't debate with liars.
My mother has chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Her life was saved at her dx 11 years ago when she was 53. She had been given Rituxin. The insurance company paid for it for 10 years. And it worked really well for her for that time.
Under the Canadian system and the proposed one Obama is putting forth, because my mother was over 50 at the time she would not have been eligible for many options and would have been put on an extra waiting list. Rituxin was not allowed in Canada due to the cost even though it is proved to extend lives, and as you can see it worked for 10 years in my mother.
If you are for this propsed bill in this form then you are saying that your utopian vision is more important than real lives and in this very case my mother's life and I will not stand with you or for it! It's that simple.
Each person, be they rich or poor deserves life saving procedures and medicine. They deserve it quickly and without waiting lists. They deserve the right to walk into any doctors office and be seen if they are sick and not to have to sign up for only one doctor or worse enroll in a lottery and a wait list of 3 years to see if your name is pulled.
Think of your grandparents. Think of yourselves as many of my readers are 50 years old or older.
Your employers will be forced to partake in the government program and you will see much less of your money in your paycheck because it is now law to pay more taxes to cover this program and you will get less healthcare options.
And if you really take the time to read the link I provided you will see some very scary things buried in this proposal...one of which is that if you are a doctor you will no longer be allowed to own certain things and have to ask permission.
Is that acceptable to you? Do you think anyone has the right to tell another what they can and cannot own in this country? Seriously is this what you believe in? Is this what you thought you voted for? I cannot believe that, because I know the deep values you espouse as compassionate Christians.
The hero worship must die here today so that your parents and grandparents get to live and aren't deemed too expensive.

Wow, that sounds scary!
Our PM has recently announced he is going to overhaul our medicare system. He is on the same side of politics as Obama, so I'm keeping my eye on the developments.
I have such a problem with the HC plan. I am 50 years old. I cannot imagine in 5 years sitting down with someone other than my doctor to discuss "my options." I cannot imagine having somebody else making my HC decisions other than my doctor and myself. The whole bill is beyond overstepping the boundries of government. It's completely unconscionable.

I completely agree! Thousands of people come to this country to get better medical care because they can't get it in their country. If this goes through we are the ones who are going to be traveling to get better medical care. Well, those who can afford to travel that is.
