Feedburner

This post is a special shout out to a very special blogger. Now don't go getting jealous the rest of you. I loves youse too!

Jessica, that young whipersnapper spent HOURS with me helping me get this Feedburner stuff set up.

I must admit I do not see the value in this yet. But I do understand that people use it and want it and that it might increase readership
:-)

I absolutely could not have figured out the steps without her. Log into this site, log into that site, now do this and that. I felt like I was 18 again babysitting and being asked to play Nintendo and being told by the 4 year-old to jump and turn and run at the same time and throwing down the joystick and saying NO THANKS! Only this time I knew I had to plow through.

Thank goodness for such a patient tutor!

So please show some blog love and check out her blog if you haven't already. She's so THOUGHTFUL and REFLECTIVE that her blog name couldn't be more perfect.

And she tells me to let you know that if you previously signed up for my feed to please resign up because now it will be different. I just have to trust her on that one. And if you haven't done so yet, the link is on the right-hand side bar.

Thanks again Jess!!!

You Want A Banana OR How To Fuck With A Mexican?

WARNING: THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL POST. It's time to mix it up a little and give you some Wednesday humor (I hope.)

You voted for more of my antics around the city and I listened.

This outting was 100% inspired by D.O.M. If you read his site you'll learn that he likes banana and tomato sandwiches.

WTF?!

So I figure that's BASICALLY pizza with bananas.

So I was so excited to feel so inspired to do this that I ran out looking like this...

And I wonder why I am still single ;-)

BTW I just joined as a guest www.humorbloggers.com. As it happens to turn out, so many of my loyal readers are humor bloggers and they are the most open-minded of all the bloggers I have met in the past year since I started blogging. They are running a contest of sorts over there and poor Joe is campaigning like the Crochety Old Man that he is and has a ton of votes.

Please take a moment to go visit Joe and Hummor Bloggers and vote for him. Now I am NOT going to pretend that I am unbiased here. Apparently you can vote more than once and I have my favorites.

So today I campaign for the following sites:

Joe of Crotchety Old Man Yells At Cars

Sandy of WitsBitch

AP Smears Palin

The Associated Press has turned to Yellow Journalism. OK this isn't new to them, it has been a problem for a long time.

'Yellow journalism can quickly be defined as journalism in which factual reporting is replaced with sensationalism. Sound familiar? Yellow journalism comes down to you getting only the information one deems necessary to give or lend more credibility to, as opposed to presenting you with all the known information. Yellow dandelions anyone? You're offered the more dramatic half of the story, which only leaves you with fifty-percent of the information on which to base your decision or opinion."

Here's the HEADLINE:

And here is the actually story if you actually click through to read it:

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin mistook some of her own fans for hecklers Monday at a rally that drew thousands.
A massive crowd of at least 20,000 spread across the parking lot of Richmond International Raceway. Scores of people on the outer periphery more than 100 yards from the stage could not hear.

"Louder! Louder!" they began chanting, and the cry spread across the crowd to Palin's left.
Some pointed skyward, urging that the volume be increased.

Palin stopped her remarks briefly and looked toward the commotion.
"I hope those protesters have the courage and honor to give veterans thanks for their right to protest," she said.
Some in the crowd tried to shout toward her what was really being said, but she couldn't hear them.

Black Man At McCain Rally in Wisconsin Urges McCain To Drive The Message Home

Make sure you watch AT LEAST starting at 2:10 in! Unfortunately it is a CNN clip and they made sure to cut it up but it's there.

And the list goes on...
Tony Rezko
Jerehmiah Wright
Bill Ayers
Farhakkan via Rev. Wright's church Obama attended for 20 years

McCain had his chance back in April when the North Carolina Republican Party ran a gubernatorial campaign ad that included the linking of Obama with Jeremiah Wright. The ad was duly denounced by The New York Times and other deep thinkers as racist.

This was patently absurd. Racism is treating people differently and invidiously on the basis of race. Had any white presidential candidate had a close 20-year association with a white preacher overtly spreading race hatred from the pulpit, that candidate would have been not just universally denounced and deemed unfit for office but written out of polite society entirely.

Obama is a man of first-class intellect and first-class temperament. But his character remains highly suspect. There is a difference between temperament and character. Equanimity is a virtue. Tolerance of the obscene is not.

And because I have been told that I am the "make you think blogger" I want to bring people and ideas to you that I am sure you're not seeing in the mainstream media. Here's a man who has something to say. Here's a BLACK man that has something to say. Why isn't he being given a mainstream platform?

Now even though it's NOT true, I heard and hear "we never see black people on telvision." I was subjected to this idiotic ideology in college in the 1990's. And when I would waste my breath listing shows I saw or newscasters I saw my ENTIRE life on television (although why should I have to think about someone's race at all!!) you know what I heard back? Those shows are caricatures and make blacks look like bafoons OR they're too white.

Well here is a very intelligent black man who THINKS. Here's someone who fits the bill of being black. Here's a man who uses his brain and communicates analytical thinking brilliantly. Why isn't the media giving him a public voice?

Do I agree with every view of this man in the video? NO. Certainly not. But I think he's brilliant and intelligent and analytical and a free thinker and for the most part I do agree with him.

Why doesn't the media want you to see this?

Get Over To Productive Slacker And Watch The Video (short) Posted IMMEDIATELY

See what the people at Acorn were caught on tape saying.

Then call your local representatives and flood them with calls about fixing these issues before the election. Get everyone you know to watch that video and to call your senators and reps. and make noise, make a lot of noise people! MAKE NOISE!

Then also please go to this site and watch about this ACORN issue.

Obama Getting Caught? Truth or Rumor?

As so many male politicians seem to get caught in an affair during their political careers I was obviously hoping for something like this to be reported on by the MSM regarding Obama.

It's no secret that I don't want him to be our next President. And honestly I don't give a flying eff if he cheats on his wife just as I didn't care what Clinton did with that intern.

The media RUINED her life. RUINED IT. She was a young girl who was struck by power and charisma. They made mince meat out of her. She was young and emotionally STUPID. Seeing as they couldn't stop that story from breaking, they went after her rather than beating the shit out of Clinton.

He got his fair share of crap about it but NOTHNG like what was done to her. Heck they even coined the term "Lewinsky"...I know I don't have to tell you the definition!

So why aren't these same people on this news story?

It's relevant. It's news. It's their job to investigate this. Maybe it's bullshit. But the fact they they are CHOOSING not to find out if it is true or not stinks like BRIE.

Voting Rights

As I am reading an article today in the NY Daily News about NYC highschools teaching civic lessons and encouraging those who will be eligible to register to vote to register for this years election I am struck by the bias.

"Where I come from we didn't have the right to vote," said Dudley, 18, referring to her African-American relatives who grew up in the Deep South. "I wanted to make sure that I voted as soon as I was allowed."

Hmmm

After the Civil War, (1871) the Constitution was changed allowing black men the right to vote. The Union Army enforced this right for twelve years after the Civil War.

Look, I am not discounting the treatment of blacks in this country at this period in our country's history. Granted after the soldiers left there was a long period of intimidation. BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS YOUNG 18 YEAR-OLD SAID. And apparently that is not what was taught.

And it's this very biased thinking that leads to systemic racial divides, anger and non-analytical thinking.

By Dudley's thought process then from where I come from WE didn't have the right to vote either...and then we get into a pissing contest of who is more right about who was more disenfranchised. Since it wasn't until 1920, after my grandmother was born, that I as a woman had the right to vote when the 19th Amendment was ratified.

And it wasn't until 1961 that those living in Washington D.C. could partipate in the voting process for President, black, white, male or female.

In RESPONSE to the illegal acts of discrimination in the south against blacks trying to vote, in 1965 the Voting Rights Act Reauthorization was enacted, providing federal enforcement.

But let's take this a step further. If you're 18 then from where YOU come from YOU didn't have the right to vote either. All the more reason at 18 to make sure now that you have the right to vote at that age since 1971 you should use that right.

It's important to remember our history. ABSOLUTELY! But it is equally important to understand the context, meaning and lesson. Pulling ONE word or one part of history out of the lesson and misusing it and turning it's meaning upside down is not a proper education. And to use it to get into a pissing contest of who has been more discriminated against is just plain wrong.

Vote because it's your civic duty to have a say in your own government. Vote because OUR government is OF THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE. Vote because OUR anecestors fought long and hard for the right to vote and understood the repercussions of not having that right to vote.

Hmmm

On television today a Democratic operative pointed out that when Obama holds a rally 25-30,000 people show up, whereas when McCain holds one he only draws 10-15,000. And he asked just how do you explain that? The Republican spokesman replied with no hesitation whatsoever, “That's because McCain's supporters are at work!!!”

I got this in my email this morning. I don't know if it's a true story...but the idea behind it is true!

Psychic Abilities

Have you ever toyed with the idea of psychic abilities? Maybe you just think of these things as for shits and giggles. OK! No problem.

If you're in the New York Area in October and want to see if there are other like-minded people and if they're as "normal" as you are visit this site and sign up. I've met Holly Chalnick and she's very gifted and funny to be around. Her specialty is synchronicity and she lectures about Jung. Don't know who THAT is? Google it and see where it leads you.

Iran's Inhuman Wrongs!

September 2008 was the 20th anniversary of when a three-man committee traveled from prison to prison across Iran, and evaluated each prisoner's "commitment" to the Islamic Republic's official ideology. The result: between 4,000 and 5,000 prisoners were secretly hanged for the crime of not recanting their beliefs.

The summer of 2008 was also the 30th anniversary of the tragic Cinema Rex fire, which was deliberately set in the city of Abadan by religious leaders and during which nearly 400 men, women, and children were burned alive. By starting that deadly fire, those revolutionary leaders achieved their goal of raising revolutionary fervor and, at the same time, sending a clear message to those Abadan residents who went to the movies during the month of Ramadan.

Currently in Iran anyone who publicizes human rights violations; anyone who takes part in an exchange program with America; any member of a religious or ethnic minority; and even those who fight polygamy can be accused of "acting against national security" or instigating a "velvet revolution." At this very moment, several civil rights activists are on death row.

Iran is second in the world for executing prisoners. China is first.

McCain Button Experience

On Monday evening, in a sea of Obama supporters in NYC, I finally found a table selling McCain/Palin buttons. I had just enough money left on me that evening to buy the button. I was thrilled.

Walking down the street in lower Manhattan, ONE BLOCK from where the terrorist attack on 9/11 killed about 3000 people and sent my fellow New Yorkers scrambling, I noticed people looking at my button. Just that slight eye movement to see what stood out. It's a large button. I would have bought a smaller one but they were all large, no matter which party button the vendor was selling.

You could see people were shocked.

When I got on the train I had a woman stand in front of holding the pole where I managed to get a seat. She was of Asian decent. I would guess she was around my age give or take a few years at best. She kept looking at my button and then my face and then my button and my face. She did this for an entire stop. When the train came to a full stop, although it was still rather empty and there was no reason to shift or move, she turned her back to me and decided to face the people sitting across from me.

The party of tolerance. The leader of tolerance. HA!

Then a young man got on the train. While I wasn't able to get his initial reaction I did get this video. He did see me take the camera out and he toned it down a bit, but if you watch closely you'll see him try to glance at the button. He had seen it for a while already yet felt he still needed to do so. He even gave me a slight smurk. Before the camera came out he was more obvious. It's hard to take a camera out on the train without being seen and therefore changing behaviors but I tried.

I'm wearing my button proudly. I hope McCain wins. I think it's obvious that the facts support his win, but people seem to either not care about facts or just haven't been able to hear, read and see the facts due to extreme slanted media bias. McCain isn't driving the proper points home either. So we have to do it for him.

Please send videos you see that show the facts of the economic problems we are having today stemming from the laws that were changed under the Clinton era done under duress and bullying tactics of a very strong NGO ACORN, to give loans to poor black people who really didn't qualify for them or suffer the social stigma of being branded racist and shut down, picketed and harrassed.

Saying Goodby To A Beloved Pet

No I am not doing that right now thank g-d! But I have had to and it was hands-down the hardest thing I ever had to do.

January 2007 I had to put Emily to sleep. I loved that little girl like nothing I can describe. We had a bond that there are no words for. Her traits were more dog than cat, running to greet me at the door and always being obedient. I miss her but I know her spirit is around me.

Recently I received email from a friend who is going to be with one of her friends to help her through putting her cat to sleep. She emailed me for advice, since "I have been through this."

When it was my time to put Emily down I knew I had to do it but I could NOT be in the room. I will forever regret that. She needed me and I wasn't strong enough. I had the Vet and one of the techs that Emily loved, come to my home and I asked the tech to please hold Emily and let her know she wasn't alone. I know Emily hear me sobbing in the other room. It wasn't a good thing for her or for me and I won't continue with the details.

I will tell you what I learned from this. I learned that I had regrets and that I would not be a coward for Olivia when it was her time. I prayed that whenever that day came it would be a quick illness and a quick passing and for the most part that was how it was for Olivia.

I remembered how Emily suffered at the end but held on because she didn't want to leave me and sensed I didn't want to lose her. That's not fair to a sick and dying animal. Olivia had kidney failure and I saw her go from living to half living in a blink of an eye. She was uncomfortable and her organs were shutting down. Within less than a week she was gone.

I called my pet sitter who is also a tech and asked her to be the one to come and help Olivia pass, here in my home. She works with my Vet and I knew she was kind and more warm than my Vet. I think my Vet is super as a doctor but not warm when needed.

This time I wanted them to come and I didn't want to wait. I knew I didn't want to lose Olivia only 14 months after Emily passed but watching her suffer this way was excrutiating and out of the most love I have ever realized I had in me I wanted her to pass. She probably would have died that day on her own but it would have been so painful for her. She deserved better.

I had a holistic healer come and be with me and say prayers for Olivia. He talked so sweetly to her. He told her how she could have any food she liked in heaven. I got her droplets of water so she would not feel parched and suffering more than she already was. I pet her and I told her I loved her and that Emily would be with her and to tell Emily hello. I told her she would not be in pain soon. I sent her love.

And then the pet sitter showed up. She was kind to Olivia. She was kind to me. She gave me some of her hair to keep. She asked me if I was ready and I nodded. And then it was over.

We talked about Olivia for a little bit and how funny she was and how strong her personality was. She was a great girl. Smart and strong. Sweet and loving. And oh so clean.

She deserved that peaceful end to her 17 years with me. I promised Emily that I would do better for Olivia than I did for her. I kept my promise.

I told my friend to just help her friend send only love to her cat. That's all you can do in the end.
